The Company was founded in 1928 since when it has been at the forefront of commercial vehicle distribution. Ford & Slater was acquired by Peter Strevens in 1991 and the Directors of Ford & Slater now comprise Strevens family members and other senior managers.

Certain key milestones in recent years include the following:
Winning the prestigious “Motor Dealer of the Year” award in 1998.
Ford & Slater Norwich relocating to it’s new £2.1m dealership in October 2004.
The independent DAF service dealer Cousins & Sharp was acquired in October 2006.
Ford & Slater relocating to a new £1.4m Spalding facility in March 2007.
Ford & Slater new premises at Coventry opened 2011.

As a privately owned company we are able to take a long-term view. The Company owns the freehold of it’s premises where possible, profits have been re-invested since 1991 and security of employment is very important to the shareholders.

We will achieve this by effectively utilizing the synergies with our dealership group, offering innovative solutions and a “one-stop shop” provided by highly motivated and skilled long-term employees, reinvesting profits to provide modern, safe premises.

DAF Trucks and Fiat Professional are our only manufacturer relationships. This means that our interests are wholly aligned with DAF Trucks and Fiat Professional, unlike other dealers which have competing manufacturer relationships.
